Enter an Item ID to analyze its layers, fields, and data. Generates intelligent summaries similar to ESRI's Item Details assistant.

Content Audit

Scan your ArcGIS Online content to find items missing summary, description, or tags.

Getting Started

This tool helps you add and update metadata for your ArcGIS Online content.

What You Can Do

  • Update single items - Fill out a form and apply metadata directly
  • Find missing metadata - Scan your content to find items that need attention
  • Batch update - Apply the same metadata to multiple items at once
  • Export reports - Download PDF or CSV reports of your content audit
First time? Click "Sign in with ArcGIS Online" at the top to get started.
Updating a Single Item
  1. Sign in - Click "Sign in with ArcGIS Online"
  2. Select an item - Use Content Audit or paste an Item ID
  3. Select the item type - Choose Web Map, Dashboard, etc.
  4. Fill out the form - Describe the item
  5. Pick categories - Select organizational categories
  6. Preview and Apply - Review, edit, then apply
Content Audit

The Content Audit scans your ArcGIS Online content and shows items missing metadata.

How to Run

  1. Sign in with ArcGIS Online
  2. Click "Show" next to Content Audit
  3. Click "Scan My Content" or "Scan Organization"
Batch Updates

Update multiple items at once with the same metadata.

  1. Run a Content Audit
  2. Check boxes next to items to update
  3. Click "Apply to Selected"
  4. Enter the metadata to apply
Note: Batch updates can't be undone. Export a CSV first as a backup.
Troubleshooting

Can't Sign In?

  • Use your ArcGIS Online credentials
  • Try signing out of ArcGIS Online in another tab first

Categories Not Working?

  • Feature Layers don't support categories
  • Apply categories to Web Maps or Dashboards instead
  • Check "Skip category assignment" if issues persist
